Crowning Light
Developed in collaboration with Rooster Lighting, the project began with a collection of lighting fixtures and components accumulated over the company’s 30 years of work in public lighting. Through upcycling, the project explores how these stored and overlooked objects could be brought back into public space and given new value beyond their original function.
The concept of ‘Light as jewellery in space’ became a way to connect this transformation with the role light already plays in architecture and landscape. Like jewellery, light is carefully placed to shape atmosphere, guide attention and define space, while the lighting objects themselves often remain unnoticed.
Crowning Light brings these objects into focus, gathering the fixtures like gemstones to form a sculptural installation. By rearranging and reframing these everyday industrial objects, the work explores how value can shift through context — allowing what was once functional infrastructure to become something to be seen, approached and experienced.
