Serendipity
The Serendipity series began in 2023 with a group of physical sculptures and was later reimagined as a virtual solo exhibition on INFINITY ISLAND in 2026.
The works originated from the house where I lived in London, which had previously been used as an immersive theatre. After the theatre closed, parts of its sets and structures were dismantled and left in the garden for more than a decade. While clearing the site with the landlord, I discovered that these abandoned materials had gradually developed ecosystems of their own, covered with moss, plants and insects. Weathering and decay had also transformed their forms, creating unexpected resemblances to objects, landscapes and living things.
Working with a light-touch approach, I preserved these found conditions as much as possible, making small interventions to transform the discarded set pieces into a new group of theatrical sculptures — shifting them from the background of a former stage into protagonists in their own right.
Following the 2023 exhibition, the series was invited to become a virtual solo exhibition on INFINITY ISLAND, a digital curatorial platform exploring architecture, mobility, materiality, and relationships between past and future. Through highly detailed, organic digital modelling, the virtual exhibition recreated the weathered surfaces and irregular forms of the original materials, creating a tension between their aged, tactile qualities and the precision of a digital environment.
